  • Both are clay-based, but porcelain is fired at higher temperatures and is denser, making it more durable, more water-resistant, and better suited for high-traffic areas or outdoor use. Ceramic is generally more affordable and works well for moderate-use spaces like bathrooms.

  • The tile itself (especially porcelain and glazed ceramic) is highly water-resistant, but grout is not naturally waterproof and needs to be sealed or epoxy-based to keep moisture from seeping underneath. We use an ultra premium, fine-aggregate, fast-setting, polymer-modified, color-consistent, non-shrinking, efflorescence-free grout for joint widths from 1/16" to 3/4" It contains a patented DropEffect to reduce surface absorption and help repel water, dirt and grime from penetrating grout joints.
