Common Questions

  • LVP has a 100% vinyl core, making it genuinely waterproof, while laminate has a wood-fiber (HDF) core topped with a photographic image layer, which makes it water-resistant at best, not waterproof. Laminate typically looks more like natural wood grain underfoot; LVP feels slightly softer and warmer.

  • LVP is composed of multiple layers: a durable wear layer on top for scratch and stain resistance, a printed design layer mimicking wood or stone, a rigid core (often Stone Polymer Core or Wood Polymer Core for stability), and an underlayment for cushioning and sound absorption. It's 100% waterproof and more affordable than real hardwood. We recommend and prefer the WPC version due to their feel and thickness. We recommend you stay above 8mm of total thickness.

  • LVP is highly durable, with wear layers ranging from 6-30 mils that resist scratches, dents, and fading. It handles heavy foot traffic, pets, and spills well, often lasting 15-25 years or more with proper installation and care—ideal for Boulder's active households.

  • Yes, most LVP is fully waterproof due to its vinyl composition and rigid core, unlike hardwood which can warp. It performs excellently in moisture-prone areas like kitchens, bathrooms, or basements, and handles Colorado's dry winters without cracking.

  • Maintenance is simple: Sweep or vacuum regularly, and mop with a mild cleaner and damp (not soaking) mop. Avoid harsh chemicals, steam mops, or wax. Spills wipe up easily, and it's resistant to stains, making it low-effort for busy Boulder families.

  • Often, yes — over tile, hardwood, or concrete — as long as the surface is clean, dry, level, and free of major imperfections. Thin LVP isn't recommended over textured surfaces like old tile, since imperfections can "telegraph" through.

  • Minor scratches can often be fixed with a manufacturer touch-up kit. Because the wear layer can't be sanded and refinished like hardwood, deeper damage usually requires replacing the affected plank. If planks need to be replaced, we are here for you and have a magic board replacement service.

  • Yes we offer a 5% discount to teachers, first responders and veterans/active military.
